Dun Laoghaire Marina is located near the Talbot Hotel Stillorgan in the historic harbour of Dun Laoghaire on the southern shore of Dublin Bay and is the perfect place when looking for Dun Laoghaire Hotels. The harbour was completed in 1859 and was originally intended as a harbour of refuge. Dun Laoghaire Marina itself opened for business on St Patricks Day, 17th March, in 2001. Since then the marina has grown in success and now has capacity for 820 boats.
Today, the Harbour maintains its ferry link since 1826 with Holyhead through Stena Line’s HSS high-speed ferry which was launched in 1996 and is the world’s largest fast ferry. The HSS crosses the Irish Sea in 99 minutes and has a capacity of 1500 passengers and 350 cars.
Dun Laoghaire is conveniently situated within a short distance of the Talbot Hotel Stillorgan and is easily accessible by train and bus that stop directly in front of the marina making the Talbot Hotel Stillorgan the ideal hotel near Dun Laoghaire. Dun Laoghaire Harbour is a very popular recreation area for sailing, walking, angling and bird watching. The East Pier is widely regarded as “the most walked walk” in Ireland and is 1290 metres long. The West Pier, 1548 metres long, is also popular for walking, angling and bird watching. Two shopping centres with all types of shops as well as a chandlery, banks, pubs, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema are all within easy walking distance of the marina.
